UMD Professional Ltd provides three management qualifications for dentists and practice managers, creating a clear management pathway for those in management roles in dental practice.

The Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) Level 3 Certificate in First Line Management
This course provides a practice management qualification designed for nurses and receptionists taking on supervisory roles. The Level 3 Certificate focuses on practical day to day management and provides a framework for training in planning, communications, customer care, finance and people management. Assessment is continuous and carried out through practical practice based assignments.

The Certificate course is available as a distance learning course lasting approximately one year.

The Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) Level 5 Diploma in Management
This course provides a nationally recognised qualification in management for dental practice managers.

It is available as a workshop based programme or as distance learning, and is designed to give practising and potential dental practice managers a sound foundation for their formal development. It represents a highly practical way to gain a respected management qualification which also benefits the practice.

The workshop programme comprises twelve monthly workshops and takes a practical approach. The workshops use case studies, group exercises and discussion as part of the learning method. Assessment is ongoing based on a range of practical tasks and written assignments which are spread over the period of the programme and carried out by participants within their practices between each workshop.

Participants will be part of a study group with their own experienced mentor who will also be available for advice and support between workshops. The programme includes a practical reference manual provided electronically.

The Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) Level 7 Executive Diploma in Management
This qualification is intended for those working at a senior level within dental practice either as a practice manager or as a dentist-manager. The programme leads to the Institute of Leadership and Management's Level 7 Executive Diploma in Management and successful completion of the programme entitles delegates to membership of the Institute and the use of the letters MInstLM.

*** The course provides 30 management credits towards the Faculty's FGDP (UK) Career Pathway and 117 hours of verifiable CPD.***

The programme comprises nine workshops held over an eighteen month period, guided learning and work-based assignments. There is no exam - assessment is ongoing based on a range of practical tasks and written assignments which are spread over the period of the programme and carried out by participants between each workshop.

Participants will be part of a study group with their own experienced mentor who will also be available for advice and support between workshops. The programme includes an extensive reference manual and practical business templates, which are provided electronically. These templates can be adapted and used for individual practices.
