UMD
Professional Ltd provides two management qualifications for veterinary
practice managers through distance learning. The Institute of Leadership and Management is
a respected management organisation and awarding body offering nationally
recognised qualifications. In addition, successful completion of the Level 5 Diploma in Management provides a fast-track route to the VPMA's Certificate in Veterinary Practice Management.
These distance learning courses provide managers with a comprehensive management training programme which they can undertake in their own time.
The
Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) Level 3 Certificate
in First Line Management
This course provides a practice management qualification designed
for those taking on supervisory roles. The Level
3 Certificate focuses on practical day to day management and
provides a framework for training in planning, communications, client
care, finance and people management. Assessment is continuous and
carried out through practical practice based assignments.

The
Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) Level 5 Diploma
in Management
This is designed to give practising and potential veterinary practice
managers a sound foundation for their formal development. It represents
a highly practical way to gain a respected management qualification
which also benefits the practice, as well as providing a sound foundation for those wishing to proceed to the CVPM.
Assessment is ongoing based on a range of practical
tasks and written assignments which are spread over the period of
the programme and carried out by participants within their practices.
Participants
will be part of a study group with their own experienced mentor
who is available for advice and support.
The programme includes distance learning materials and a practical reference manual provided electronically.
