UMD Professional was established in 1997 to provide practical business training to the professions. Our team of eight consultants and trainers have been senior managers themselves in a variety of fields and have extensive experience in helping professionals gain the enhanced business skills required for practices to be run efficiently, effectively and profitably.

We provide courses, in-house training and consultancy primarily in the UK but also in Europe, Asia and the United States. We have a reputation for giving practical advice and support which gets measurable results. Our clients testify that our training has made a great difference to their practices and has enabled them to move their practices forward in the direction they have chosen.

Open Courses

Our open courses consist of one or two day workshops spread over a multi-month period supported by advice and mentoring between each workshop.

Hands-on Management
A comprehensive business support programme that explores the major business principles behind successful practice including strategy, recruitment and selection, people management, appraisals, finance, marketing and leadership.

Institute of Leadership and Management
1) A choice of two levels of practice management qualification focusing on day to day managment and providing a framework for training in planning, communications, customer care, finance and people management.
2) An advanced programme using case studies, group exercises and discussion with practical tasks and written assignments carried out by participants within their practices between each workshop.
These courses are accredited by the Institute of Leadership and Management and lead to ILM qualifications.

We have helped more than 500 practices to achieve the IIP standard. The Standard confers many benefits ranging from enhanced job satisfaction and motivation to a clearer focus for the practice and improved profitability.

Bespoke Services

In-house Training
We provide structured training for individual practices in a range of business and management skills including planning and objective setting, implementing appraisals and performance review, understanding finance, customer care, ethical selling and improving communications.

Consultancy
We offer tailored guidance and advice specific to an individual practice's requirements. These sessions help our clients to tackle specific issues in depth and can range across the whole gamut of business skills from strategic planning, finance, ethical selling, people and performance management to market research and marketing the practice.
